Purpose
To maintain a safe and welcoming shopping environment for both volunteers and shoppers.
To ensure equity in the distribution of food while upholding the budget established by the executive committee.

Policy Statement- Shopping
Lower Shopping Area
Access to the lower shopping area is restricted to residents of Clear Creek and Gilpin counties only.
All individuals entering this area will be asked to confirm their residency. We will take their response at face value.
Upper Area
The upper area is accessible to all individuals, regardless of residency.
Policy Statement- Firearms
No firearms of any kind are allowed on the premises.
Violation of this policy will result in suspension of shopping privileges.
Policy Statement- Attire
All shoppers must be fully clothed at all times to include

Pants/Skirt/Dress

Policy Statement- Conduct
Disrespectful behavior or display of conduct in the shopping area will not be tolerated.
Such behavior may result in a temporary loss of shopping privileges.
We encourage all customers to maintain a respectful and positive environment for everyone.
As defined in the Colorado Law, smoking is not allowed inside the building or within 25 feet of any entrance.
Policy Statement- Substance Abuse
No consumption of any drugs or alcohol on the property is allowed.
Confidentiality Policy
Information received from or about clients is confidential and must not be shared without the client’s consent, except as required by law (e.g., suspected abuse or harm). Procedure: All sensitive information must be reported to the Managing Director or a Board member, who will determine the next steps, including notifying law enforcement if necessary.
Procedure
Violation of policies should be reported to the director or board member and may result in temporary loss of shopping privileges.
Policies are subject to change, and shoppers are expected to comply with any and all policies posted or verbally conveyed.

Policy Statement- Dress Code
Appropriateness of Dress
Volunteers are expected to dress in a manner that is respectful and considerate of the diverse backgrounds and age groups of those we serve.
Attire that may be considered offensive is strictly prohibited.
Safety Requirements
For safety reasons, all individuals are required to wear closed-toed shoes while on the premises.
Acceptable Dress Standards
Casual Standard Wear: T-shirts and jeans are acceptable attire.

All political speech, attire, or display is strictly prohibited.
Policy Statement- Background Check
All volunteers must successfully pass a background check conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Review Process: The outcome of the background check will be reviewed by the Director.
Notification: Volunteers will be promptly informed of their acceptance or denial based on the results.
Policy Statement- Communication
All volunteers are requested to provide a form of communication, either email or phone number.
Purpose: This information will be used to send important updates and notifications via SMS or email.
Policy Statement- Food Safety
All volunteers are to abide by the Food & Stocking Safety guidelines.
Policy Statement- Civil Rights
All volunteers are required to complete the USDA Civil Rights training.
Volunteers must confirm their compliance by signing a designated form.
This training and confirmation must be renewed annually.
Policy Statement- Conduct
Volunteers shall refrain from vulgar language or argumentative tone.
Physical violence is not allowed.

Sanitation: All volunteers are expected to adhere to healthy sanitation practices to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone at Loaves & Fishes.
Hand Sanitation
Wash Hands Regularly:
Use soap and water to wash hands for at least 20 seconds.
Use Hand Sanitizer:
When soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
Cleaning Up After Yourself
Ensure that all work areas are cleaned and sanitized after use.
Properly dispose of waste in designated receptacles.
Return any equipment or supplies to their appropriate locations.
Do Not Come in If You Feel Sick:
If you are feeling unwell, please refrain from volunteering.
This policy helps protect our guests and fellow volunteers, especially those who may be vulnerable to severe illness.
